Purdue University invites nominations and applications for the position of the Justin S. Morrill Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. The Justin S. Morrill Dean of Liberal Arts plays a crucial leadership role in the College and University communities, nurturing achievement within the College of Liberal Arts and developing collaborative relationships with science, engineering, and other academic partners across campus, other universities, and key constituencies at the local, national, and global level. The Dean will have the unique opportunity to contribute to Purdue Moves, an initiative aimed to propel the University forward in its teaching, research, and engagement missions. As the chief academic, administrative, and financial officer of the College, the Dean of Liberal Arts reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned academic leader and a passionate advocate for the liberal arts who can pair a compelling vision for the future with the skills to make that vision a reality. S/he will have experience inspiring and cultivating multiple stakeholder groups and will have a history of developing productive relationships with both the internal and external communities. S/he will possess a distinguished record of academic achievement commensurate with that of a tenured faculty member at the rank of Professor in one of the College's departments/Schools. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the power of liberal arts to shape a world-class educational institution—and the world itself.
