|Date Posted||July 29, 2014|
|Type||Tenured, tenure track|
Rutgers University School of Social Work seeks dynamic faculty members to join our productive faculty in continued expansion of the Schools innovative programs, centers and institutes. We plan to add 3-5 faculty members to our tenure track faculty primarily at the assistant professor rank, though our search is open to candidates from all academic ranks.
We seek highly productive scholars, entrepreneurial and innovative thinkers, and engaged colleagues, with a strong commitment to public education and to social work research.
The Rutgers School of Social Work is the fourth largest in the United States, offering the BASW, MSW, DSW and Ph.D. degrees to over 1600 students across three campuses. The Camden, Newark and main New Brunswick campuses are located in dynamic areas of the Garden State, offering easy access to major eastern cities and Washington, DC, and great quality of life.
New Jersey is one of the most diverse states, and Rutgers one of the most diverse student bodies, in the country. Our MSW program is delivered in several innovative ways, including traditional campus, intensive weekend, online and blended options. Certificates in Aging, Addictions, and Violence Against Women and Children expand our curricular reach. Our DSW program prepares senior social work practitioners for leadership in clinical and management arenas. Our Ph.D. program prepares students for careers in higher education, research and advanced positions in social policy arenas.
Rutgers is a major research institution and our faculty enjoy significant research ties with numerous, nationally known, university centers and institutes. The recent integration of New Jerseys medical schools and programs into Rutgers has created a rich environment for collaboration. Rutgers is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) a federation of 62 leading research universities in the United States and Canada and of the CIC (Committee on Institutional Cooperation) an academic consortium of Big 10 universities that collectively engage in over 8.4 billion dollars in funded research each year. The School of Social Works externally funded portfolio exceeds 31 million dollars, with some 13 million in yearly expenditures.
The School of Social Work is a collegial, productive and motivated faculty. A recent analysis by Academic Analytics found the Rutgers Social Work PhD faculty to be the third most productive in publications, citations, and research among social work faculty in the United States. The Schools current centers and institutes include the Institute for Families, a multi-million dollar partnership with NJs Departments of Human Services and Children and Families, the Center on Violence Against Women and Children, the Center for Leadership and Management, the Huamin Research Center and the Center for Gambling Studies. The School offers an open and exciting environment for development of specialized centers.
The successful candidates will enjoy working in a positive, energetic environment, be highly motivated, interested in collegial relationships with faculty and doctoral students at the School and with other disciplines, and committed to advancing the reputation of the School. While the search is open to candidates with varied research foci, we are particularly interested in Social Work Management, Inter-professional Health, and Child Welfare, along with other research areas that complement existing faculty research clusters.
