The University of Alabama in Huntsville seeks a dynamic, energetic and self motivated individual to assist in building online courses and holistic degree programs to support the Universitys initiative for on-line student learning. The successful candidate will consult with faculty on instructional design, its processes, methodologies, timelines, and costs.  The Instructional Designer will also partner with faculty in the development of instructional materials, assessments and multimedia production following industry-standard best practices.  Minimum qualifications include a Masters degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or a closely related field; 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of instructional and curriculum design, development and implementation of on-line, hybrid or blended courses; proven ability to lead faculty through brainstorming process that will result in an instructional framework based on both agreed instructional syllabi and best practices for on-line delivery; demonstrated experience with time management, and the ability to meet milestones and deadlines; must have a demonstrated ability to create and manipulate audio and video files, visual design and the ability to story board; experience in developing processes to test, evaluate, and recommend use of learning software and technology; must be current in methodologies and models for best practices in instructional design; must possess excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to provide exceptional customer service.  Previous professional experience working in a higher education environment is desired.  Teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Expertise in multi-media development and delivery is desired. Quality Matters™ Certification is preferred. Candidates selected for interview will be expected to provide a portfolio of their work.
