Applications and nominations are sought for the position of Chair of the Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University. The department offers ABET-accredited B.S. programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering along with M.S. and Ph.D. programs in both disciplines. There are currently 31 tenured and tenure-track faculty members.   The ECE faculty includes four endowed chairs and nine endowed professorships. Our current enrollments include 540 undergraduate students (sophomores, juniors, and seniors), 83 MS students, and 96 PhD students.  Twelve administrative and technical staff members provide excellent support to the ECE Department. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the ECE faculty to develop a vision of the long-term evolution of the department, and implement a strategy to execute that vision. In addition to leading the on-campus programs, the ECE Chair is expected to play a  pivotal role in several innovation campuses in which ECE faculty members are heavily involved in interdisciplinary research and educational initiatives, including the Advanced Materials Research Lab (AMRL) which is located near campus, the Clemson University Restoration Institute (CURI) in Charleston, SC, and the International Center for Automotive Research (ICAR) in Greenville, SC.


Candidates for the position must have an earned doctorate in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field, a solid record of scholarly research and publication, experience with a diversified base of externally funded research, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and demonstration of strong leadership and communication skills. Consideration will be given only to those who merit appointment at the rank of Full Professor with tenure.


Standard Hrs: 37.5; Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.
