The Substance Abuse Prevention Program invites applications for its adjunct instructor pool. Appointments may range from one to four terms per year, including summer, and appointment level depends on teaching load. There is a possibility of renewal for up to 3 years based on instructional needs, funding and performance. The program anticipates hiring instructors for courses in the areas of substance use, misuses, and abuse, prevention, intervention, and related topics.
Duties include course preparation, classroom teaching, preparation and evaluation of student assignments and exams, and potentially may include team-teaching with SAPP Academic Coordinator or other collaborative formats. Most courses meet during evenings or weekends. The Blackboard course delivery system will be utilized as an adjunct to classroom instruction.
Successful candidates will have substantial professional experience in the subject to be taught and either demonstrated or strong potential for teaching excellence. They also will have a firm commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. Master's degree in a relevant field is required. In exceptional circumstances, a Bachelors degree with significant professional experience in a relevant field may substitute for a Masters degree. Active Oregon CADC 1 or 2 or CPS strongly preferred. Computer technology capabilities commensurate with online teaching and the willingness to teach online only courses are required for all successful candidates.
Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and the pool will remain active through June 30, 2015. Screening of applicants will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.
Please send a letter of interest including course topics that you are qualified to teach, current vita including all current license and certificate information, and contact information for two professional or academic references. Electronic PDF submissions are required. Refer to Job #140611
