Upper Iowa University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in criminology/criminal justice on the residential campus beginning August 2014.  Responsibilities include teaching eight courses per year in a 2-2-2-2, eight-week term system, supporting student and departmental activities, and serving on university committees.  The successful applicant will have demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from diverse backgrounds.  Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience; with 9 or 12 month contract based on applicants credentials.  An earned Ph.D. in criminal justice or relate field is required for appointment.


Applicants areas of specialization are less important than the demonstrated ability to teach 24 credit hours per year from the following list of classes: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Community-Oriented Policing, Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Delinquency, Criminology, Globalization, diversity in the U.S., Research Methods, Sociology of Law, Criminal Investigations, Ethics in Criminal Justice, Comparative Study of Criminal Justice, and Justice Administration. 


Teaching assignments are predominantly face-to-face on the Fayette campus, but may require teaching, as needed, in hybrid, online, domestic center, and international center modalities.  The successful applicant is expected to complete training for online teaching during the 2014-2015 academic year.
