Assistant Professor of Counselor Education

Commensurate with experience and qualifications

The position starts in August 2014 or January 2015. Position responsibilities are to teach, supervise clinical experiences, and advise students in a Master’s level CACREP accredited clinical mental health and school counseling program. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: teaching courses in CACREP core and counseling specialty areas; providing clinical supervision to master’s level students; producing a focused line of research leading to publications in refereed journals and to extramural funding; advising/mentoring students; working with faculty in the Counselor Education program and with those entities affiliated with the program; participating actively in professional organizations and university committees and developing hybrid and online courses for hybrid programs at the Master’s and Ed.S. levels.

Doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education; emphasis and work experience in school counseling preferred; graduate of CACREP accredited program preferred; NCC certification; eligible for licensure as a Professional Counselor and Board Qualified Supervisor in Mississippi; evidence of clinical competence, successful teaching experience, and excellence in scholarly achievement (e.g., research, publications, and presentations); demonstrated potential for leadership in school or clinical mental health counseling.
