Job Description: UF Enterprise Infrastructure & Operations is recruiting a Data Center Infrastructure Technician. This will be the 3rd DCI Tech on the team, reporting to a Data Center Supervisor. Duties include: Performing moves/adds/changes of computing & networking equipment within the various UFIT data centers and communication infrastructure buildings (CIBs) Maintaining documentation of all aspects of the data centers and CIBs, including both facilities and contents Assisting with facilities-planning with respect to data centers and CIBs, including planning allocation of floor-space, electrical power, network connectivity, and cooling. Assisting with monitoring, adjustment, and routine maintenance of data center and CIB facilities, including facilities cleaning, HVAC/cooling-systems adjustment, generator testing, Fire-Protection Systems testing, responding to alerts from automated monitoring systems, and facilitating/escorting contract-maintenance vendor personnel within secure spaces Performing equipment and documentation audits to ensure accuracy and compliance. Assisting with the development and maintenance of change-control procedures Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 40 lbs. on a frequent basis Must be able to work in a wide range of physical environments, including both cold and hot, as well as constant white-noise (from computing equipment and its cooling infrastructure). Data Center Infrastructure Technicians participate in an on-call rotation covering 24x365, for emergency response requirements.
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational\/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications Extensive familiarity with data center systems and facilities Extensive familiarity with data cabling, including copper Ethernet and fiber-optics (single- and multi-mode), and connection devices and methods Familiarity with electrical power distribution concepts, including power monitoring, 3-phase circuits, power distribution units, power transfer switches, generators, and multi-kilowatt UPS systems Familiarity with data center HVAC systems (chilled water) Advanced competency with Microsoft Office applications; especially Word, Excel, and Visio Knowledge and understanding of the UF telecommunications standards
