Carleton College is seeking a Budget Director. Reporting to the Vice President and Treasurer, in collaboration with College leadership, faculty, and staff to develop an annual budget and a longer term financial model and forecast. The Budget Director uses their knowledge and information about expenditure patterns and funds availability to support and interact with the campus community broadly.

 

This position has primary responsibility for developing and communicating the College operating and capital budgets.  The Budget Director works closely with administrative managers across the College on budget issues and capital projects to achieve organizational goals through financial strategic planning and special project analyses.  

 

The Budget Director will monitor the overall FTE allocation and compensation budget in collaboration with the VP and Treasurer, the Director of Human Resources, the Chief Academic Officer, and related committees regarding classification and compensation practices of the College.

 

The Budget Director provides leadership and training for the campus community regarding budgetary, financial, and management philosophies, outcomes and direction. This position has no direct reports.

           

The successful candidate must possess bachelors degree, a masters degree is preferred.  A minimum 5 years of experience with financial analysis including cost-benefit, present valuing, econometric and financial modeling, and forecasting is required. The candidate must conduct business with a high level of integrity, a willingness to listen and communicate effectively with internal and external constituents. Experience in not-for-profit management is strongly preferred. Prior experience in a higher education environment is desirable.
