Description:

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Education, the successful candidate will be responsible for strategic leadership of this established MBA program and serves as a key ambassador to both prospective and current students. This senior-level position maintains direct oversight responsibility for various operating units of the program including Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, and the Career Opportunities Center, each led by an experienced administrator. S/he will work hand-in-hand with the Dean’s Office and also with the Faculty Academic Council responsible for the development and delivery of the MBA curriculum. In addition, the Head, MBA Program will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituents of the school and university including faculty, staff and students. Equally important, the individual must communicate and work effectively within an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Candidates must demonstrate excellent presentation skills and a potential for, and commitment to, classroom teaching excellence. Candidates must be willing and able to travel as needed both domestically and internationally to meet the requirements of the position. Candidates with prior experience in university academic administration, preferably at the graduate level, are preferred. This position may be categorized as either administrative or faculty depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. The Head, MBA Program may teach up to the equivalent of one semester course per year.

 

Qualifications:

• Education: Master’s degree required; Ph.D. or terminal degree in one’s discipline preferred.

 

Experience:

o 5-8 years administrative experience within a successful MBA program.

o Classroom teaching experience at the graduate level.

o Demonstrated experience presenting to small and large audiences in situations where skills of persuasion are essential.

 

Skills:

o Excellent leadership skills

o Management skills in dealing with a variety of staff at different levels

o Excellent written and oral communication skills

o Outstanding interpersonal skills

o Ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students

o Ability to forge partnerships with colleagues across campus and at other institutions in both academic and administrative settings

 

Physical Mobility: Normally sedentary with some mobility. Domestic and in some cases international travel may be required.

 

Environmental Conditions: Normal office environment. Generally work involves extended use of computer monitor.

o Ability to conceptualize at high levels Ability to effectively lead teams - faculty, staff, students

o Ability to work independently and under pressure

o Ability to deal with difficult situations while maintaining composure

o Exhibit great patience, especially with students

o High-degree of self-confidence and creativity at both the strategic and tactical levels
