Assistant Men's Swim Coach & Associate in Physical Education
Columbia University seeks an Assistant Men's Swim Coach and Associate in Physical Education for its New York, NY facilities.
Teaching and advising undergraduate students in the required physical education program that includes mandatory swimming classes; acting as assistant swim coach, instructing, training, coaching and advising undergraduate student-athletes in the sport of men's swimming; performing administrative duties including but not limited to positive relations with students, parents and other faculty/coaches, recruitment of prospective student- athletes, participating in alumni relations, cooperating with news media, positively representing the university and its athletic programs in private and public forums and operating in accordance with the regulations of the National Collegiate Athletics Association, accompanying swim team on road trips to other universities for competitions as well as recruiting trips.
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Kinesiology, or related.
Employer Prefers candidates with a high level of competency in swim skill instruction and motivation, an understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment, strong recruiting, teaching and coaching skills, an ability to build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, staff and alumni, ability to work within the framework of NCAA and Ivy League regulations, successful background in collegiate coaching, preferably at the Division I level.
