Public Health: The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington, Department of Kinesiology has an opening for an Academic Specialist position, 10 month position, beginning fall 2014, that is in collaboration with the Indiana University Army ROTC Tactical Strength and Conditioning Program. The Tactical Strength and Conditioning Coordinator will: a) facilitate assessment protocol, b) program and implement physical training, c) monitor objective performance-based metrics via statistical analysis, and d) teach courses in the Department of Kinesiology. He/she should be familiar with exercise programming and design, body composition evaluation, movement screening, computerized program development, and possess University teaching experience. Responsibilities include: Teach strength training exercises, techniques, and progressions; Design and implement total training program for cadets of various ability groups; Teach Plyometric techniques and progressions; Oversee need specific conditioning activities for cadets; Advise cadets about basic nutrition for tactical performance, proper use of ergogenic aids in training and performance, and healthy life styles for tactical performance; Organize team training sessions to ensure proper training and safety of cadets; Maintain training equipment, insuring proper function, and safety; Teach related course content in Department of Kinesiology; Maintain relationship with Athletic Training Staff; and Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum of a Master's degree and two years Strength & Conditioning coaching experience. Preferred Education and Experience: Doctoral Degree in exercise science and three years Strength & Conditioning coaching experience. Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Teaching progressions, plyometrics, Olympic weight lifting, agility, conditioning, functional movement screening, and ability to operate in a highly structured militarized setting. Preferred Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: â?¨Advanced program design, specialty training equipment, and girevoy (kettlebell) sport. Other Factors: Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with multiple departments, IU Athletics, and other community partners. Occasional travel is required.
