The UW Madison, College of Engineering (CoE), is currently recruiting for a Professor and Director of the new Grainger Institute for Engineering.
The Grainger Institute for Engineering (http://graingerinstitute.engr.wisc.edu) is designed to serve as a new research incubator within the College of Engineering. The Institute will foster a trans-disciplinary research and educational environment and provide the infrastructure to address grand technological challenges. New research directions will be launched and nurtured within the Institute, with initial targeted efforts in the areas of advanced manufacturing and materials engineering.
The Grainger Institute Director will be responsible for developing and managing the Grainger Institute for Engineering. Through leadership excellence, the Director will sustain and enhance the trans-disciplinary research environment of the Institute. Specific responsibilities include faculty and staff hiring, budget management, creation and support of new research initiatives and centers, coordination with undergraduate and graduate educational programs, and public outreach. As a faculty member at the full-professor rank, the Director will have a tenure home in one of the College of Engineering academic departments.
