CSU Fullerton is a comprehensive, regional university serving a diverse student population of over 37,000, including international students representing 79 nations. Under the direction of the Vice President, Information Technology/CIO, the Associate Vice President for Information Technology is responsible for performing broad operational responsibilities for IT services, functions and activities. These include, but are not limited to: university-wide administrative and academic technology needs and services, involvement in coordination and administration of university enterprise projects, and enabling and enhancing cohesion, process flow, and practices in IT. Specific duties and responsibilities include: 1. Manage and direct the successful development and implementation of large scale initiatives to enable business growth through the creative use of information technology. This may include the following: Chancellor’s Office initiatives and collaborative projects developed in conjunction with the VP-IT, university, and/or vendor leadership teams. 2. Provide timely input on the development of IT roadmaps for multi-year projects, task definition, assignments and scheduling. 3. Bridge functional needs and technical requirements. For example, working with business and product leaders to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology choices influence strategy. 4. Identify and define high level technical strategies, guidelines and standards that balance short term and long-term objectives in a practical manner, as well as provide architectural review services for potential solutions. 5. Plan and execute technology infrastructure strategically and expansively. 6. Foster and maintain a collegial work environment and keep themselves apprised of the technology needs, plans, developments, and concerns of all CSUF stakeholders, including administrative and academic divisions and colleges, other CSU campuses, and with CSU Chancellor’s Office management. 7. Brief executive management on critical issues in a timely and diligent manner. 8. Convey technology-based information to both technical and non-technical audiences. 9. Other duties as assigned.
