Carleton College seeks an Assistant Director of Student Activities to contribute to the overall goals of the College by supporting a vibrant, comprehensive and co-curricular program for approximately 2,000 undergraduate students. She/he reports to the Director of Student Activities and serves as the primary contact and consultant for over 240 student organizations.

In collaboration with The Student Activities Programming Board (SAPB) and The Carleton Student Association (CSA), the Assistant Director is responsible for assessing social programming needs, providing leadership opportunities, and designing and implementing a variety of intellectual, social, recreational, cultural, and developmental programs. The position also assists with the overall design, implementation and assessment of New Student Week, Carletons first-year orientation program.

This is a 12-month, full-time position with frequent evening and weekend commitments. This is an additional position to Student Activities resulting from the organizational re-structuring within the Dean of Students Division.

Required Qualifications

-Masters Degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs in Higher Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience
-Sense of humor with an outgoing personality
-Willingness to work on a flexible basis when activities fall outside of normal working hours
-Experience working with diverse student populations
-Understanding of student development theory and current issues in the field of Student Affairs
-Experience supervising and advising students
-Experience advising campus programming boards and student organizations
