Description: Carroll University is seeking a dynamic and innovative academic leader to serve as the Program Director of its developing Masters of Occupational Therapy program within the Department of Human Movement Sciences housed in the College of Natural Science, Health Science and Business. This tenure-track position will play an integral role in the development and leadership of the programs curriculum and structure. The director will work collaboratively with other health science program directors, department chair and college dean.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities of this 12 month appointment in the Masters of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program include teaching, scholarship and service. In year one of this appointment responsibilities primarily focus on preparation of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Candidacy Application, full development of program curricula, development of program space, recruitment of program faculty and limited teaching in area of expertise in a related program. Upon granting of Candidacy Status the director is responsible for program compliance with ACOTE Standards and Guidelines, limited teaching in the areas of expertise in program, scholarship, university service, and directorship of the occupational therapy program.
Qualifications: The ideal Director candidate must hold a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, OTD or equivalent), be a licensed OT and have a minimum of eight years experience in the field of occupational therapy that includes; clinical practice, administrative experience, scholarship and at least three years of experience in a full-time academic appointment at the post baccalaureate level. Candidates with prior accreditation experience are preferred but not required.
Rank and Salary: Associate Professor eligible for tenure and promotion. Commensurate with qualifications.
The Program: The Carroll University Masters of Occupational Therapy program has been designed to educate a 30 student cohort through a full-time, 24 month, 88 credit curriculum designed in the context of the Carroll University mission and ACOTE standards. The preliminary curriculum includes a unique three-course series in medical humanities consistent with the Carroll liberal arts heritage and a three-course service learning series that focuses on culturally appropriate care and service to underrepresented populations.
The Masters of Occupational Therapy program is housed in the Department of Human Movement Sciences and College of Natural Sciences, Health Sciences and Business. It is closely affiliated with the Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Nursing, Physical and Health Education, Public Health, and Physician Assistant programs. The program is housed at the Carroll University Center for Graduate Studies, a state-of-the-art 55,000 sq. ft. interdisciplinary graduate facility. This facility includes comprehensive teaching and laboratory spaces for both teaching and scholarly endeavors.
The College: The College of Natural Sciences, Health Sciences and Business offers undergraduate and graduate programs through six departments - Life Sciences (animal behavior, biology, environmental science, psychology); Computational and Physical Sciences (actuarial science, applied physics/engineering, chemistry, computational science, computer science, information technology, mathematics, physics, software engineering); Health and Medical Sciences (health science-radiological sciences and medial sonography, physical and health education, physician assistant studies, public health, sports and recreation management, therapeutic recreation), Human Movement Sciences (athletic training, exercise science, exercise physiology, physical therapy); Nursing (BSN, RN to BSN, MSN); and Business, Economics and Accounting. The College has a strong staff of academic administrative and support personnel.
