International Education: Full-time position to begin fall 2014. Salary and benefits are regionally competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Ph.D. or other terminal degree. Five years of demonstrated leadership and management experience in international education or closely related field are required. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of developing partnerships and exchange programs with universities in other countries and will have experience interacting with students, staff, presidents, and other dignitaries from universities abroad. The Executive Director is responsible for Murray State University's international activities and programs, both academic and special. This includes three main divisions of international program activity: 1. International enrollment management (recruitment and admissions), international student and scholar support services, study abroad, inter-institutional agreements, consortia, exchanges, and advisement 2. The administration of the English as a Second Language (ESL) program 3. The management of specially targeted programs and group trainings both conducted in cooperation with other MSU departments or independently under IIS auspices. The Executive Director also represents the university in promoting and implementing cooperative arrangements for international activities on a contractual basis. Key responsibilities include: 1. Administers all IIS activities in each of the three main divisions outlined under the position description 2. Supervises all IIS staff in the performance of their assigned duties 3. Oversees and participates in the promotion of MSU's international programs, including student recruitment and special programs and projects 4. In cooperation with MSU relevant committees and departments, develops and implements strategic planning activity that fulfills the global dimension of MSU's mission statement 5. Furthers the integration of international perspectives and cross-cultural components into academic programs 6. Develops IIS academic capacity to offer credit-bearing courses 7. Represents the university in developing cooperative relationships for agreements and projects 8. Identifies and develops proposals for grant and contract activities with other departments and external organizations 9. Teaching and affiliation with a department in area of academic interest on campus is highly recommended along with the performance of administrative duties. Application Deadline: July 14, 2014.
