The Vice President for Finance and Administration division is seeking a Tax Accountant.

Established in 1804, OHIO University is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio & the first in the Northwest Territory. Located in the scenic Appalachian foothills, its classic residential campus in Athens, Ohio, is one of the most attractive in the nation.

The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparation of Unrelated Business Income Tax return for the university (990T). Individual will develop and maintain tax compliance policies and processes for all non-employment taxes for the university. Tax Accountant will prepare all non-employment related tax filings for the university including, but not limited to: Sales & Use taxes, Excise taxes, Transient taxes, Property taxes. Work with Controller and Associate Controller to manage strategic tax planning for the university. Manage procurement tax administration as needed. Review, research, and respond to tax questions from university departments. Assist with IRS and other agency audits.

Duties include:

Unrelated Business Income Tax return preparation (990T, UBIT) Collect materials from departments; review impact of any investments held in the universitys name; prepare return for review with Associate Controller, Controller. Develop and deliver UBIT training to university departments. Refine UBIT questionnaire for university departments to use to assess new revenue streams.
Maintain Tax compliance processes review any state or countries where we may need to file a return. Review Foreign taxes including VAT, GST other. Respond to various non-employment tax questions from the university as necessary. Tax research as needed.
Prepare the following returns as needed:
Sales and Use Taxes Monthly; Excise Taxes Aviation Fuel; Transient Taxes City & County; Property Taxes; Surplus license
Any other tax returns or filings necessary
Procurement Tax Administration as needed. Research, develop, and deliver tax related policies for non-employee taxes as needed. Maintain Tax related information on the Finance website. Work with Employment Tax Accountant as needed on various tax questions.
Assist with IRS and other agency audits. Coordination and support of the OU Foundation tax filings.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
Minimum of 1 year experience in a tax or related Accounting function
Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
