Assistant/Associate Professor of Marketing


The Department of Marketing in the College of Business at Illinois State University invites applications for a tenure-track, marketing professor position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to begin August 16, 2015. Candidates for the position should have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree in Marketing (A.B.D’s will be considered) from an AACSB accredited business school. The ideal candidate will possess prior work experience in sales and sales management, the ability to work collaboratively as a contributing member of a faculty team, a scholarly research record as evidenced by publications (or progress toward publications) in high quality journals, and interest in continuing to develop the Professional Sales sequence through interaction and engagement with industry professionals. We seek candidates who are highly qualified and motivated to teach Professional Sales/Sales Management courses as well as other courses to support the Department of Marketing (e.g. Purchasing, Sales Forecasting, Marketing Research, or Strategic Marketing Management). A successful candidate will also be expected to pursue cross-functional, integrative curriculum development and incorporate a pedagogical approach to involve students in learning through high levels of engagement.

The Department of Marketing is positioned within the College of Business, which has undergraduate and graduate programs accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The business school is housed in the 118,000 square foot, state-of-the-art State Farm Hall of Business completed in 2005. The Department offers a traditional marketing degree as well as sequences in Integrative Marketing Communications and Professional Sales to over 670 undergraduate students as well as a full complement of Master’s level students as part of the M.B.A. program. The Department includes twenty-three, full-time faculty (19 Ph.D’s/D.B.A.’s) four who have joined the Department within the last four years. The College was recognized as one of the Best Undergraduate Business Schools by Business Week Magazine and the sales program is nationally ranked by the University Sales Education Foundation, certified by the Professional Society for Sales & Marketing Training and is a full member of the University Sales Center Alliance.

The Professional Sales program is supported by the Professional Sales Institute which is underwritten by Enterprise Rent-A-Car and other corporate sponsors. The Executive Director serves as the Department liaison to industry partners and leads a variety of programs to enhance student learning, promote careers in professional sales, and generate additional funding to support the program’s mission and activities.
