At the direction of the Vice Provost and Dean of Students, the Student Conduct Officer is responsible for the management and coordination of duties related to the daily operations of the student judicial system with particular attention to the issues relating to Residence Life.

Responsibilities include: receipt, review and processing of referrals or alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, serving as a Hearing Officer conducting disciplinary conferences, and maintenance of the judicial database. Co supervises 10 Resident Director positions in the Office of Residence Life. Serves as the primary point of contact and reference with respect to judicial issues for the Office of Residence Life. Manages and trains all hearing board members, including sexual assault, student residential, and overall university boards.

Other responsibilities include: responding to campus inquiries regarding policies and procedures and student, parental inquiries and concerns, administration of creative sanctions in line with the philosophy of the education of the whole student while enforcing the behavioral responsibilities of the student, completion of judicial activity reports and surveys, assisting with the recruitment, selection and training of administrative hearing board members and students who participate in the adjudication process.

Ensure that all staff in the Division of Student Affairs are trained in all legislative matters as they pertain to student discipline.

Establish, maintain and manage the Student Mediation system. Stay mindful that the main priority of the adjudication process is to educate students and assist them in transforming their inappropriate behavior. Recognizes that punishment is not the goal.

Ensures that all students receive due process in the judicial system. Assist faculty and staff with students who are demonstrating inappropriate behavior. Recommend student suspension or dismissal.

Minimum of Masters Degree or JD. Incumbent must have working knowledge of student judicial procedures and higher education administration. Incumbent must understand the laws that govern student conduct.
