The University of Missouri (MU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost. The executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost reports directly to the chancellor and will serve as chief executive officer in the chancellor's absence. The Provost is MU's chief academic officer and will work closely with the vice chancellors, vice provosts, deans, unit leaders, staff, the Faculty Council, the UM System president, and others to advance academic and strategic initiatives, and allocate funds to move those priorities forward.

Founded in 1839, the University of Missouri (MU) is a Research University (RU/VH) and one of 62 member institutions in the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU). The University offers 317 degrees and certificates to nearly 35,000 students. With over 2,100 faculty and 11,000 staff, the University is home to 11 major research centers, the world's No. 1-ranked School of Journalism, and the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the School of Law's Dispute Resolution program consistently rank in the top five nationally. MU Extension supports the University's land-grant mission, providing faculty in all 114 Missouri counties with access to the University's resources and expertise. The University has an annual budget of over $2.1 billion and totaled $236.4 million in research expenditures in FY13.

In the next executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost, the University of Missouri seeks a distinguished academic leader with a strong inclination towards partnership along with superb communication skills, a decisive leadership style, the proven capacity for innovation, and a deep commitment to MU's land-grant mission. S/he will also possess: an earned doctorate or equivalent; an outstanding record in scholarship and education commensurate with the appointment to the rank of full professor with tenure; excellence in academic and administrative leadership at the level of dean, provost, and/or other senior administrative position of a major university; a proven commitment to diversity; and the ability to work effectively with administrators, faculty, students, staff, alumni, and other constituencies.
