Position Summary:

Monitors applicable state and federal regulations to ensure benefits and compensation practices, policies and procedures are compliant; assists director in partnering with various units within Human Resources and on-campus to determine the impact or implementation needs of new/changing regulations, policies, or procedures; participates in and/or chairs committee meetings with labor organization, faculty and academic staff, student organizations, and purchasing coalitions in terms of benefits and compensation programs; serves as a liaison with plan administrators, providers, employees, and MSU units regarding plan provisions, costs, and policies; assists director in monitoring, measuring, and evaluating effectiveness/costs of existing benefit and compensations programs and prepares recommendations and proposals; assists director with campus wellness strategies including research and recommendations; conducts RFP's for benefit plans, conducts special studies in terms of benefits and compensation initiatives, as well as prepare statistical data; provides first level supervision to benefits and compensation staff; will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication, problem solving, good judgment, critical thinking, and planning and organization skills.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in human resources administration or related field; three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in human resources as a HR generalist with an emphasis in benefits/compensation administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
