The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM), Office of Medical Education is searching for a full-time basic science medical education faculty position as Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor with expertise concentration in Medical Pharmacology.  The selected candidate will be responsible but not limited to: teaching Basic Medical Pharmacology throughout a multidisciplinary Medical Education Curriculum; introduction to Basic Medical Pharmacology-general principles and drug classes; teaching Pharmacology in organ system Pathophysiology, teaching mechanism of action of drugs; teaching Basic Medical Pharmacology in Clerkships, introduction/basic principles in case management; and teaching/ reviewing  Physiology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Nutrition and Pharmacogenomics in relation to mechanism of action of therapeutic agents. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the preparation of study guides and course syllabi; preparation of assessments and assessing student achievement; preparation and participation in Case Based, PBL and TBL formats throughout the curriculum; course leadership and management; and individual guidance/ assisting students.


Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree as a MD, DVM, PharmD or PhD in medical science, preferably Pharmacology. Preferred requirements are a minimum of three years in a faculty position in a Medical College teaching MD students; expertise in teaching Medical and Basic Pharmacology; substantial experience in teaching and course leadership for pathophysiology courses; teaching an integrated medical curriculum for MD students; directing courses for medical students, curriculum planning and student performance assessments; experience in current multidisciplinary medical education- active learning formats- PBL, CBL, TBL, and inverted classroom; and knowledgeable of current general pharmacology curricula in allopathic medical education in the USA and USMLE content.
