Department and Job Information:
School of Teacher Education (STE). The School of Teacher Education at Florida State University invites applications for a full-time clinical faculty position to start in January 2015. The position will involve program coordination (including preparation of external and internal accreditation reports), teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, field experience/student teaching supervision, and administrative service.
Responsibilities for the position include (1) providing leadership in coordinating the special education programs, (2) delivering instruction, advising, and field supervision in the School of Teacher Education at the undergraduate and graduate level, (3) forming and maintaining relationships with district/school level administrators and teachers, (4) collaborating with other faculty to ensure coordination between course and fieldwork experiences, and (5) participating in service or civic engagement activities at the department, college, university, and professional organization levels.
This is a nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position at the assistant teaching faculty rank, with possible summer employment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experiences.
Candidates must have (1) an earned doctorate in special education (or a related field; doctoral candidates who will complete their degree prior to the start date will be considered), and (2) at least 3 years of successful teaching experience serving students with disabilities at the preschool, elementary, and/or secondary level. Candidates for this position should demonstrate a strong commitment to teacher preparation, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and program and curriculum development. Prior teaching and/or supervision experience in higher education is desirable.
