Music: The Department of Music at Princeton University is seeking a distinguished performer in Japanese taiko who has an established track record for teaching technique and repertory. The department is interested in candidates who are experienced in teaching and performing a variety of repertoire, from traditional taiko to modern kumi-daiko and contemporary compositions. This position is a one semester, non-tenure track renewable position. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Please include curriculum vitae (including a list of performing groups and/or key performances, repertoire, and compositions) and a cover letter. Extensive experience performing with world-class performers of taiko in Japan and North America is required. Experience with Japanese and Asian-American culture and its relation to taiko performance. Experience repairing or constructing taiko substitutes. Proficiency in playing other traditional Japanese instruments as part of a percussion ensemble is preferred. Proficiency in playing jazz or contemporary composition. Commitment to teaching.
