Hindi-Urdu: Bloomington, IN. In a classroom setting teaches 6 courses per year (3 per semester) at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels of these two closely related languages. The Lecturer sets homework and examinations, works with students to ensure their success in the classroom and grades students' performance. The Lecturer contributes to the long-term development of the Hindi/Urdu program and performs as a collegial and collaborative member of the Dhar India Studies Language Team including representing the Dhar India Studies Program through participation in relevant activities and events on campus. Requires Master's degree in Second Language Acquisition, Language and Literature, South Asian Languages, or closely related field plus 2 years experience as a Hindi-Urdu instructor, or, a Bachelor's degree in the above fields plus 5 years teaching experience. Also requires native or near-native fluency in Hindi and Urdu; ability to function with and teach both Devanagari and Nastaliq scripts; enthusiasm for the languages and their respective cultures; effective classroom presence and teaching skills; and ability to communicate with and manage students in a professional manner. Requires occasional travel to attend conferences for professional development.
