The Ohio University Genomics Facility seeks an individual for a full-time position as Director of the Genomics Facility. The successful candidate will be expected to manage, oversee, and expand the daily operations of a university-wide genomics core facility. This person will assist with experiment design; provide expertise to develop new research methodologies; coordinate research projects; troubleshoot, interpret, and communicate results; train and educate faculty and students; and give occasional in-class lectures and facility tours. Additionally, the Director is responsible for a working knowledge of all facility equipment; maintaining the facility Web site and LIMS; overseeing billing and establishing pricing, policies, and procedures for facility usage and services; and cultivating professional contacts with vendors, researchers, and other core facilities.
The Genomics Facility currently provides services related to Sanger sequencing, microarray analysis, next generation sequencing (Ion torrent and Illumina), Bioanalysis, qRT-PCR, and laser capture micro dissection microscopy. Minimum Qualifications: MS degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field and training in basic principles of molecular biology, Sanger sequencing, and next generation sequencing.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field; in-depth knowledge of molecular biology with ability to plan experiments in multiple disciplines and modify methodologies based on model organisms; minimum 3 years experience managing a core facility, supervising staff, and overseeing budget and accounting; experience with microarrays, Bioanalysis, qRT-PCR, PCR, laser capture micro dissection, HPLC, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
