Ohio University in Athens, Ohio seeks an accomplished leader to be the Executive Director, Facilities Management (ED). The ED reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Information Technologies and Administrative Services (SAVP). The ED will be responsible for: leading, supervising, and coordinating the facilities operations including maintenance and custodial of all buildings and grounds on the Athens campus; the procurement, production, and distribution of all utilities; and the energy management program.

Nestled along the Hocking River in the beautiful Appalachian region in the foothills of southeastern Ohio, Athens is a historic college town. With its red brick Georgian architecture and system of "greens," the Athens campus is acknowledged to be one of the most attractive in the nation. The Athens campus is made up of 217 buildings and 1850 acres.

This role has operational and financial responsibility for departments that employ approximately 310 people with an operating budget of approximately $20 million. The ED will utilize broad knowledge of facilities management as well as strong communication and collaboration skills to mold and strengthen an organization comprised of talented and committed people. Strong financial and business acumen is required. Success for this position will be defined through: creating and maintaining effective collaborations and partnerships across the University; open and transparent communication; identifying and implementing processes and systems that improve service and accountability, and control costs; and improved internal management of the Facilities division.

The Executive Director, Facilities Management will have a minimum of 5 years of facilities experience (prefer 8+years) including building maintenance, custodial and ground services, work management, utility production and distribution, and employee relations is required. 10 years of Facilities Management with labor union experience is preferred. S/he will have excellent leadership, communication, and budget development and management skills, along with the ability to apply engineering concepts, and the ability to lead transformational change over time. A Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, or related field is required. Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an MBA is preferred. At least one certification such as PE, CFM, or LEED AP is also preferred.
