Advise graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and alumni in six graduate schools and programs (Graduate Arts and Sciences, Annenberg School for Communication, School of Design, Wharton Doctoral Programs, SEAS Doctoral Programs, and Biomedical Graduate Studies) in all facets of career planning and employment-related activities. Plan and offer workshops and speaker programs, present at department orientations, to student groups and in classrooms. Write and develop content for web site, social media and other resources. Work directly with employers to interest them in hiring graduate students. Work closely with faculty members and administrators on program planning. Participate in the collection and management of career survey and employer data. Help plan and manage career fairs, take the lead in coordinating the annual fair for the School of Design. Co-manage nine listservs targeting graduate students, postdocs and alumni of graduate programs. Represent the office at professional meetings. Receive administrative supervision from and report to Senior Associate Director, Career Services.
A Master's Degree is required, Ph.D. preferred, and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent counseling skills with the ability to work with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and alumni who are applying to a variety of careers. Outstanding presentation and writing skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to assimilate and retain large volumes of information on career fields. Database management and Web site management skills strongly preferred, as is experience with Access. Ability to organize and implement programs, workshops and special events. Ability to juggle multiple priorities. Knowledge of specific fields such as academic careers, science careers, the expanded job market for Ph.D.'s, as well as architecture and planning careers a plus. Collaborative style, and the ability to take initiative important. Flexible in adapting to new systems and responsibilities.
