The Operations and Information Management Department in the School of Business, University of Connecticut, invites outstanding scholars to apply for the Robert Cizik Chair in Manufacturing.  Researchers in any field related to Manufacturing will be considered, including, but not limited to Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production or Operations Management, or Operations Research.  The position is full-time, 9-month, and tenured at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, beginning Fall 2014 on the main University campus at Storrs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Successful candidates must hold a PhD in a related field and have a superb record of scholarly productivity and teaching that would support appointment to a Chaired position. Candidates must have an ongoing, highly productive research program with publications in premier journals and a proven record of teaching excellence. The position will involve some teaching in the departments Management and Engineering for Manufacturing (MEM) program, a unique undergraduate program offered by the Schools of Business and Engineering. Teaching and research excellence specifically in Manufacturing is therefore a strict requirement.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  Preference will be given to candidates who complement department needs and have a track record of interdisciplinary collaboration with business and engineering. A record of external funding or demonstration of applied research within the manufacturing industry will also be viewed favorably.

 

Compensation will be highly competitive and commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience, and consistent with School of Business and University policies.  Tenure-track faculty appointments are on the Storrs campus for a 9-month term. 

 

The Department of Operations and Information Management (OPIM) at the University of Connecticut is a combination of Operations Management and Management Information Systems, with undergraduate majors in Management Information Systems and in Management and Engineering for Manufacturing, a Masters of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management, as well as a PhD program.  The UT Dallas Top 100 Business School Research Rankings rates UConn as #7 in premier journal publications in the areas of Operations Management and Information Systems from 2008-2013.
