Case Western Reserve University in Ohio
|Date Posted||May 21, 2014|
Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) seeks an innovative and accomplished leader in information technology for the position of Vice President for Information Technology Services/Chief Information Officer (CIO).
The Universitys strategic plan recognizes that constant change in information technology creates opportunities to develop and invent new approaches and tools for pedagogy, learning, and research as well as the creation of new knowledge. In this context the new CIO must be an experienced IT leader with strong strategic and executive capabilities, someone who has the vision to anticipate the evolutionary pathways of new technology, and the imagination to identify emerging areas such as data science that are becoming important disciplines for both research and teaching.
Building upon a strong record of success, there are significant opportunities and multiple challenges for the new CIO. The CIOs work will cluster in several key areas, including: continuing the evolution of ITS from a technology support group to a strategic business organization that predicts and responds to academic priorities; embracing new approaches to provide infrastructure, security, and commodity services; continuing use of external partners to administer basic IT services while continuing to improve operating performance and data security across the university; enhancing current and deploying new services to stay at the leading edge of academic and research computing leading in the use of web, digital and new media technologies; and serving new generations of domestic and international students who grew up with technology-enabled education.
The CIO must lead through influence and persuasion to develop and manage interwoven programs across a wide range of activities. Demonstrated ability to build a strong leadership team that excels at operations and service is imperative.
A BS or BA degree is required and an advanced degree is preferred.
