Rowan Universitys College of Engineering is seeking experienced candidates to fill a tenure-track position in Biomedical Engineering. The College is seeking an exceptional candidate who has the potential and experience to lead the development of our inaugural Biomedical Engineering department that opens in Fall 2014.
Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 14,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia, and it has a branch campus and medical school in Camden and a second medical school in nearby Stratford. Rowan is only the second university in the country to offer M.D. and D.O. medical-degree granting programs. The institution is also home to the South Jersey Technology Park, which fosters the translation of applied research into commercial products and processes.
Applicants must have demonstrated the ability to develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program. The ideal candidate will also have a proven record of leadership in academia.
Innovation and entrepreneurship are hallmarks of the College; therefore, we seek candidates who have the capability and interest in developing translational technologies to improve health care effectiveness throughout the world. Two medical schools, the Cooper Medical School and the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, will provide excellent opportunities for collaboration and professional development.
Candidates must be committed to outstanding research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will have leadership experience at the college and department levels and significant background in conducting a multidisciplinary engineering education which values experiential learning. Our goal is to create a world-class Biomedical Engineering department that fully harnesses our outstanding resources to produce an exceptional research and learning environment. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related field.
