The Lamar Visiting Scholar will teach one class per semester and will interact/engage with faculty and students on various research and/or creative projects. The focus of these projects will fit the background and expertise of the Lamar Visiting Scholar and could result in journal publications, a white paper, a symposium created in partnership with the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs and/or creative activity tied to the research such as blogs and social media streams.
Required Qualifications: Masters degree (terminal degree) in Journalism, Political Science or related field; exceptional candidates who do not possess the terminal degree but who have a Bachelors degree and 10+ years of high-level professional experience in media, political communication or related field may be considered.
Additional Qualifications Desired: Master's degree (terminal degree) in Journalism, Political Science or related field; 10+ years of related professional experience; wide range of mass communication or political experiences will be considered.
This is a one-year position from August 2014 to May 2015. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
