Job Description: The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine is recruiting a Sr. Training Specialist for the Veterinary Clinical Skills Program. 1. The incumbent will coordinate the day to day management of the clinical skills program which is designed for first and second year veterinary students to obtain basic technical and communication skills that will prepare them when they enter clinics in their 3rd year. 2. The incumbent is responsible for the organization of the daily activities of the skills lab including coursework support, equipment, supply maintenance, budget management, and data collection/analysis. 3. Incumbent will instruct students during certain labs and be responsible for student scheduling for weekend in-clinic skills assessment sessions and part-time technician trainers. 4. The successful candidate will collaborate with both hospital and college departments including but not limited to: CVM computer systems management staff in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Hospital Information System (Electronic Medical Record) and varied computer assessment programs; Financial Services in the preparation and management of the cost center budget; all clinical services in the scheduling and utilization of service technicians trainers. 5. The successful candidate for this position must have clinical experience in a veterinary clinic preferably in a teaching role as well as exceptional organizational and communication skills. 6. He/she should be well versed in all aspects of clinic operations and have prior experience working with individuals at a variety of training levels. 7. This position serves as the point person between the Office of Student Instruction and the Veterinary Hospitals in the clinical skills training of all veterinary students beginning in 2014. 8. Initially the incumbent will work directly with the faculty course coordinators but once the final parameters of the program are established this individual will work independently of faculty or administrative input for routine matters.
Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and six years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in an academic veterinary clinical setting Experience writing and implementing protocols and procedures Knowledge of and experience working with and maintaining veterinary clinical equipment\\:supplies Knowledge of and experience with computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite Experience maintaining accurate lab records and to handling data efficiently Experience training others Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with employees, professional staff and students
