North Dakota State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Registrar. The position reports to the Dean of Enrollment Management and is responsible for the supervision (25+ FTE) and operation of the Office of Registration and Records. The office is part of a comprehensive enrollment management team, within the Division of Student Affairs, which participates in design and development of policies and strategies in support the University’s enrollment and retention goals. The office has strong connections with Academic Affairs, with the Registrar serving as the recording secretary to the Faculty Senate and maintaining collaborative relationships with both the Vice President for Student Affairs and the University Provost. In addition, strong collaborations exist with many campus units including Customer Account Services, Information Technology, and Facilities Management.

Responsibilities include providing visionary and collaborative leadership to the office to ensure the maintenance, preservation, security and transmission of student academic records and transcript services. Other duties include directing the registration, scheduling of courses and assignment of class rooms; monitoring the implementation of academic policies and preparation of related reports, supervision of unit staff and budget management; serving on University and professional committees; overseeing activities related to commencement ceremonies; providing leadership for campus wide academic advising support; and, implementing necessary technology to achieve department goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree
• 5+ years professional level experience in higher education
• Functional experience with student data management systems
• Budget management experience
• Evidence of strong supervisory experience and ability to motivate and lead professional staff members as well as delegate authority and projects as necessary
• Ability to collaborate and build productive relationships with multiple departments on a college/university campus
• Thorough understanding of college/university structures, degree requirements, academic policies and procedures
• Understanding of and commitment to serving diverse populations
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

• Terminal degree
• 5+ years professional level experience in a student support function (e.g. registration and records, financial aid, admission, recruitment)
• Demonstration of progressive levels of experience within a University Registrar’s office
• Experience with records systems including, but not limited to, setting up and maintaining student records, course enrollment/registration, academic structure tables to include courses and programs of study, degree audit and completion, and security for faculty and staff
• Experience with other software related to functions of the registration and records office such as room scheduling, maintenance of catalog and curricula, transcript management, etc. (e.g. Ad Astra, CourseLeaf, Clearinghouse, ImageNow)
