Position Title: Application Server Administrator


Job Overview:

The Application Server Administrator will install new application servers such as WedSphere, Tomcat, BEA WebLogic, and Oracle Application server as well as configure, administer and troubleshoot these servers.  In addition, he/she will work with software engineers in the installation and operation of applications requiring an application server.  The position requires good interpersonal skills as well as technical proficiency.  In addition to the Application Server duties the Administrator will also perform system administration tasks.



2 years of experience can be counted as the equivalent of one year of college.  Technical knowledge required includes: 3 or more years administering Unix servers, Java application development training and or experience, Windows server administration, application server configuration and deployment.  Projects typically involve making multiple systems inter-operate. Experience with the following preferred: Springsource Java, WebSphere, Tomcat, IIS, Apache, Linux, Oracle, BEA Weblogic, SQL Server, Central Authentication Server.


Essential Functions:

Install and configure servers Troubleshoot Web Applications and Application servers Planning and deploying new applications. Unix server administration Cross-training other administrators Windows server administration Scripting administrative tacks Documenting processes, procedures, and applications
