Overview

The Office of Institutional Equity staff supports providing a climate that allows people to find opportunities to reach their full potential through awareness, education and training programs that promotes individual responsibility toward acceptance and recognition of all persons regardless of culture or ethnic backgrounds.
 
Duties and Responsibilities     
   1. Lead efforts across the University ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements as they relate to antidiscrimination laws and policies.
   2.  Oversee and coordinate the development and delivery of University-wide education, training and outreach programming related to antidiscrimination laws and policy, including Title IX. Provide leadership for campus-wide initiatives that work to transform the campus culture and advance inclusivity, gender equity, and opportunities for individuals from traditionally under represented populations.
   3.  Conduct, coordinate and ensure the timely completion of the University's response and investigation of complaints pursuant to antidiscrimination laws and policies, including sexual harassment and sexual misconduct, including but not limited to forms of protected class harassment and discrimination.
   4.  Draft investigation reports, issue findings, determinations and recommendations on cases.
   5.  Serve as the central resource for all constituencies on issues related to protected class discrimination, harassment and Title IX. Provide training and support for deans and department heads during faculty searches, tenure proceedings and promotion reviews to advance an equitable and diverse faculty on campus.
   6.  Develop and implement a long-term vision for the University around programs, services, education and assessment of Title IX programs and prevention efforts, including but not limited to sexual harassment and sexual violence, dating and intimate partner violence and stalking.
   7.  Advise and collaborate with the offices of the Division of Student Success, Human Resources, Provost, Deans and Department Heads and others as appropriate, on the status of initiatives, case management trends, challenges and resource needs.
   8.  Develop and maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and case law related to discrimination and harassment based on all protected categories and applying to all campus stakeholders including, but not limited to obligations under Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, ADA, and ADAAA.
   9.  Oversee, train, lead and collaborate with Deputy Title IX coordinators across the four campus system.

   Secondary duties assigned to this position:

   1.  Position requires work outside of normal business hours, as needed.
   2.  Travel, both in and out of state, is required.
   3.  Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Qualifications     
   1.  JD or Master's degree and three (3) years of experience or Bachelor's Degree with five (5) years of experience.
   2.  Progressively responsible experience in student conduct, equal opportunity/affirmative action or human resources discrimination and harassment investigation or other similar investigation experience.
   3.  Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate, problem solve and inspire individuals with differing interests and perspectives in a large and complex organization.
   4.  Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and regulations, including Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA/Section 504, sexual harassment and other applicable laws and regulations.
 
Preferred Qualifications     
   1.  Experience and/or training in responding to complaints of sexual harassment and sexual violence as well as complaint investigation and resolution and grievances. etc.
   2.  Experience participating in administrative hearings.
   3.  Experience in higher education.
   4.  Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
