EFFECTIVE DATE:  August 11, 2014 

JOB DUTIES:  Primary responsibilities will include teaching in the Graphic Design bachelor degree program.  Major course emphasis will be advertising design, typography and layout, production management illustration, and graphic design.  Teaching assignments may include both graphic design and art. Some travel, including overnight, may be required.  Other responsibilities will include ongoing curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation; professional/instructional development; advising; scholarly/creative activities; and other college service.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum qualifications include an MFA in graphic design or related area; plus one year of recent work experience in the graphic design field.  Candidates with college-level teaching experience and a strong art background are preferred.  Demands of the position require a thorough knowledge of the graphic design field, including the printing industry; layout and design of various publications (e.g., ads, brochures, magazines); digital media (e.g., website development and web animation); software (Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, etc.); and production management.  Desired qualifications include well-developed teamwork and communication skills; and demonstrated experience and leadership skills in the development of instructional materials including alternative delivery methods, writing across the curriculum, and collaborative active learning.  Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
