The School of Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire one tenure track Assistant Professor to start in August 2014/January 2015. Review of the applications will start on June 2014.

The University of Cincinnati is a research one University that was established in 1819 and is home to more than 40,000 students. The School of Information Technology confers an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in Information Technology that covers the areas of Networking/Systems, Software Application Development, Database Management and Digital Media. Furthermore, the school confers a minor in Information Technology and several certificates. There are approximately 400 students in the School and 11 full-time faculty members. The Information Technology degree is a five-year coop degree and is one of the first 10 in the nation to receive ABET accreditation.

The SoIT is expanding its undergraduate and graduate offerings. Candidates who value diversity and interdisciplinary initiatives, who are interested in being part of a team-oriented, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are those who are self-motivated and have demonstrated initiative and leadership skills. Candidates should have the background and experience to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate level courses, specifically courses in the mobile and game development area. All faculty positions require teaching, research and service responsibilities.

While all areas of Information Technology expertise will be considered, the SoIT has special interest in Mobile Development, Social Networking, and Entertainment and Educational Games Development. Candidates who have the capacity and interest to develop interdisciplinary research programs in one or more of these areas will be given preference.  


Job Description: On a full-time basis, faculty members' principal academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating and reporting knowledge


Minimum Qualifications: Appropriate academic degree related to department specifications and prior academic experience.  


Position Qualification: An earned PhD in Information Technology or a related area is required. Applicants with a minimum of ABD in Information Technology or a related area will be considered.

Applicants must hold the doctorate degree before the start date, demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service, and have substantial research potential.  


Ideal Qualifications: Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate students in a hands-on environment is preferred. Experience in working with a diverse population of students is preferred.
