Job Description: The Division of Information Technology - Network Services at the University of Florida is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Network Engineer 2. This position is responsible for general network engineering duties (design, project management, and problem remediation). The focus is on support of core networking, Internet and R&E boundary networks, statewide WAN sites and on-campus building networks utilizing Cisco and other equipment. Duties and technology areas include wireless, OSPF, MPLS, VRFs, VPNs, ACLs, and firewalls. Opportunities for advancement include Data Center networking, High Performance Computing clusters, SDN programming in Perl, Python and other languages, and Regional Optical Networking and ISP via Florida LambdaRail (LLC). Works with diverse and dynamic teams of network engineers, IT architects, systems administrators, and programmers in central UFIT on leading edge technology. Good leadership and communication skills are also required.
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational\/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications The following skills are desired: * Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP®) and equivalent real-world experience. * Advanced knowledge of physical network infrastructure and components. * Knowledge of programming languages such as Perl and Python, and programming concepts.
