The University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. The Vice Provost position reports to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and assists with all manner of academic administration, policy, and planning and leads campuswide initiatives at the direction of the Provost. The next Vice Provost for Academic Affairs will be an energetic and enthusiastic academic leader, with a successful record of administrative leadership in higher education and thorough understanding of the programs that comprise a large public research university. The Vice Provost should possess the ability to work collegially and respond effectively to all constituents of the University of Georgia, and be a principled advocate for the institutions tripartite mission, to teach, to serve, and to inquire into the nature of things. The Vice Provost should have a deep commitment to diversity.
The Vice Provost works closely with a wide range of university constituents and reporting agencies, acting on behalf of the Provost at meetings when the Provost is unavailable. Additionally, the Vice Provost advises the Provost on a number of key academic appointments and appeals processes, faculty development and promotion and tenure issues and related issues.
A terminal degree is required. The successful candidate should be results-oriented, skilled at problem solving with the ability to work independently and efficiently, be a strong manager with good budgetary skills and the ability to work in a collaborative manner with senior administrators, the academic leadership in the 17 schools and colleges, and across the University.

UGA employs about 1,800 full-time instructional faculty and more than 7,600 full-time staff. The Universitys enrollment is approaching 35,000 students including approximately 26,300 undergraduates and 8,300 graduate and professional students. Academic programs reside in 17 schools and colleges, as well as a medical partnership with Georgia Regents University housed on the UGA Health Sciences Campus, which will graduate its first class of medical students in spring 2014.
