Job Description: Clinical Assistant Professor, Mathematics Education University of Florida College of Education, School of Teaching & Learning The School of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education at the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL), a comprehensive land-grant research university and member of the Association of American Universities, invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor. This is a twelve-month, time-limited, non-tenure track with an initial appointment for one year. This position is time limited and continuation of this appointment is contingent upon the availability of funding and satisfactory performance in the position. This position will begin as soon as a qualified candidate can be located and will be located in Palm Beach and Broward County, Florida. Position Location: Palm Beach and Broward County Start Date: July 01, 2014 or as soon as possible Responsibilities: -Recruit, advise, and instruct practicing educators in Palm Beach and Broward Counties within a distance learning graduate certificate program in mathematics education -Collaborate with faculty on program development for mathematics education graduate certificate and related distance graduate programs -Assist with project coordination and serve as a liaison to project partners with in-county travel across Palm Beach and Broward Counties and periodic travel to Gainesville and/or St. Petersburg for planning meetings -Collaborate with Lastinger Center faculty and staff on SunBay Digital Mathematics Program efforts in Palm Beach County
Minimum Requirements: Required Qualifications\: -Completed doctorate (by June 2014) in teacher education, curriculum and instruction with a teacher education focus, or a closely related area -At least three years of successful K-12 classroom teaching experience -Experience teaching in higher education -Strong background in mathematics education -Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively and with a commitment to collegiality
Preferred Qualifications Desired Qualifications: -Direct experience with distance teaching and learning -Direct experience with school reform initiatives, particularly in middle schools -Direct experience with university-school partnerships -Completed 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics
