St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota, invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The University seeks a strong academic leader who is able to provide vision and direction that will strengthen the academic environment while advancing the strategic goals of the University. The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and provides administrative leadership and oversight for all academic components of the University and serves as the chief executive officer in the President's absence.
Located along the Mississippi River, 70 miles northwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Cloud State University is home to 16,245 students participating in challenging academic experiences and a vibrant campus life. The University is a diverse campus community, with more than 1,000 international students from more than 80 countries learning and growing alongside students from small Midwestern towns and large metropolitan areas. The 1,500 diverse faculty and staff are committed to preparing students for life, citizenship and work with an education that is rigorous, relevant and a good value. The University offers more than 200 academic majors, minors and pre-professional programs and 60 graduate programs, including doctoral degrees in Higher Education Administration and Education Administration and Leadership. Programs are delivered through six academic colleges and schools, including the College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Engineering, the Herberger Business School, the School of Education, the School of Health and Human Services, and the School of Public Affairs. St. Cloud State is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System.
Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications: An earned doctorate or the equivalent terminal degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution; ten years of related experience with increasing responsibility in a higher education institution at the university level including: experience at the level of an academic dean; demonstrated record of teaching, scholarship and service; and experience working with diverse populations.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate: A record of successful administrative leadership in a complex organization, including: strategic fiscal planning and budgeting, management, and assessment in a dynamic resource environment; a commitment to shared governance and a leadership style that is collaborative, respectful, and highly inclusive; experience with collective bargaining; a commitment to affirmative action and diversity; the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with various internal and external constituencies; sound judgment, strong communication skills, and keen diplomatic abilities; effectiveness in data-driven problem-solving, organizational management, and decision making; an understanding of and the ability to provide leadership to the intellectual life of a comprehensive university with graduate programs and accreditation affiliations; an ability to analyze a variety of data sources to project and accomplish strategic outcomes; a proven track record of creative problem solving with demonstrated ability to implement innovative approaches to curricula development and resource management; a commitment and record of service to broader communities; and knowledge of trends and issues in higher education.
