Position Summary
The Executive Officer serves as a public face of the University of Idaho representing the President in Southwest Idaho. The EO supports the President’s agenda by providing visibility and facilitating a broadened sphere of influence in Southwest Idaho. The EO works with university vice-presidents, deans, and other senior leadership to support legislative engagement, strengthen relationships with municipalities and public agencies, provide outreach to business, develop media coverage, and support student enrollment. In addition, the EO provides administrative leadership for management of the Water Center facility in Boise and acts as a catalyst to support academic programs, faculty, and staff in Southwest Idaho.

The EO reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President.

Minimum Qualifications

The EO will have:
• An earned Bachelors degree and evidence of extraordinary intellectual engagement:
• Demonstrated ability to communicate the value of higher education in a land grant university.
• Leadership in working collaboratively with a wide range of agencies, boards, business organizations, and other public entities locally and from a distance.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• A minimum of seven years’ experience in an executive office environment with increasing responsibility for managerial oversight; OR demonstrated academic leadership experience over a seven year period; OR any combination of either totaling seven years.

Preferred Qualifications

• The EO will be a person with high energy, good humor, and highly developed people skills.
• He or she will be of sound character and good judgment.
• Demonstrated experience working with satelite or remote locations.
