JOB DUTIES:  The successful candidate will coordinate and oversee the Music Education program and be responsible for teaching choral and elementary music education classes, supervising student interns, and directing a choral ensemble. The faculty member will advise music education students and serve as the official liaison between the Music Department and the College of Education. Other expectations include building and maintaining positive relationships with area public school music educators and professional organizations, actively recruiting students for the Music Education program, developing, assessing and revising curriculum, serving on University committees, participating in administrative tasks relative to teaching, and actively pursuing scholarly and creative activities and service opportunities in professional organizations.  Other teaching assignments and duties will be determined by the candidate's qualifications and the needs of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum qualifications include an earned Doctorate in Music Education or a closely related field; evidence of three (3) years successful public school choral music teaching experience at the secondary level; demonstrated success in student recruitment and retention; documentation of service to music education and choral community; and documented experience teaching music education courses at the university level.  Preferred qualifications include certification in Orff, Kodály and Dalcroze methods; public school certification; evidence of scholarly and creative activity; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; and evidence of integrating technology into teaching.  The successful candidate must also demonstrate artistry in the area of choral conducting at the university level.  Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
