TCNJ Department of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking adjunct instructors for the following 2 courses for the upcoming fall semester.
MATH 596/ Concepts and Methods of Teaching Mathematics in the Elementary Grades
This course offers a modern view of mathematics content in the elementary school in combination with an exploration of contemporary methods of teaching this content. This course is offered to students in the Master of Arts in Elementary Teaching (MAT) program. The course meets once a week and is scheduled for Tuesdays, 5:30 - 8:00.
MAT 105/Mathematical Structures and Algorithms for Educators I
This course concerns the development of number systems, algebraic structures, and algorithms. The student will be required to reason mathematically, solve problems, and communicate mathematics effectively at different levels of formality, using a variety of representations of mathematical concepts and procedures. Physical materials and models will be used to explore fundamental properties of number systems, to model algorithms, and to explore selected algebraic structures. This course is required for those students preparing to be elementary, early childhood, deaf and hard of hearing, or special education teachers. The course could be scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays, 11:00 - 12:20 or Mondays and Thursdays, 3:30 - 4:50, depending on the instructor's availability.
Adjunct instructors are expected to have earned at least a Master's degree. Appropriate experience in mathematics and elementary education is preferred.Contact Information
