Academic Adviser, MS in Finance Program

The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School has an immediate opening for an Academic Adviser. This position will provide advising and other services to Master of Science students, and primarily students in the MS in Finance program. This exciting opportunity is located primarily at the Washington DC campus, with regular office hours (30-50%) at the Baltimore campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise students on registration, course selection, academic programs, and concentration selection
  • Assist students with matching career goals and course offerings/concentrations
  • Monitor student grades to apprise students of their academic standing
  • Build and foster the Carey student community of learning by promoting: the Office of Student Services including student groups, international services, tutoring and networking events; the Office of Career Services including resume assistance, internships, employment placement, etc.; Carey school-wide events; the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School alumni network and its events


Note: Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required as needed for the program and student activities. The position requires off-site travel/campuses.

Job Requirements
  • Masters degree in the field of advising or business administration from a regionally accredited college or university.

    Minimum of 3 years of related experience is required; experience with graduate higher education admissions and/or advising experience preferred.

    Work experience in an international setting and with international students is required. Regional expertise (Asia and China specifically) is preferred.

    Experience in financial services sector is preferred.
