MTSU is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Vice Provost for Student Success. The Vice Provost for Student Success provides executive-level leadership, vision, and strategic planning in the administration of a comprehensive range of services, policies and procedures related to student retention and success. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Vice Provost for Student Success also serves as a member of the President's senior leadership cabinet. The Vice Provost provides strategic and innovative leadership, guidance, oversight and accountability for the implementation of the MTSU Quest for Success and other strategic plans related to student retention and graduation. The Vice Provost for Student Success participates in all aspects of institution-wide planning in support of the mission and goals of the university, but will be particularly focused on creating a learning environment where high expectations for student learning are linked to a focused and effective system of academic support initiatives.


Earned doctorate and five (5) years full time progressive experience in academic or student affairs administration required. Teaching experience also required. Prior experience leading the implementation of campus-wide student success initiatives preferred. Prior experience leading the implementation of campus-wide student success initiatives preferred. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and a broad range of trends and best practices nationally in student retention and academic success initiatives. Further the candidate must have demonstrated experience in coordinating effective collaboration across colleges and divisions, ability to use data and analytics to identify leading indicators of student retention and success, and excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively listen to all points of view, build consensus on initiatives and issues, and inform others of policies and plans.
