Senior Vice Provost for Instructional Innovation

Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, seeks an accomplished leader for the newly created position of Senior Vice Provost for Instructional Innovation (SVP). The SVP reports to the Executive Vice President/Provost with dotted line oversight by the University Chief Information Officer (CIO). The SVP will work closely and collaboratively with the Deans and the Office of Information Technology to develop and maintain appropriate programs for ongoing faculty development and student achievement. The SVP is responsible for: overseeing development of a strategic plan for University-wide instructional innovation, including but not limited to faculty development, student support, and progressive, intentional technology adoption and integration, with strong consideration of universal design and accessibility principles; overseeing curricular design; managing professionals who are responsible for implementation, training, and support; and for ongoing assessment of the effectiveness of Ohio University's instructional innovation strategies.

The new Senior Vice Provost for Institutional Innovation will have the following experiences, capabilities, and attributes: successful experience leading operations in a large, decentralized research university; extensive experience developing, implementing, and assessing strategic plans; extensive knowledge of and experience with implementation of learning theories; curriculum and instructional design; knowledge of and experience with instructional technology practices and services related to academia in higher education institutions; strong team-building skills and the ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals, including faculty, administrators, and technology professionals; knowledge of and experience with computer software and systems utilized in instructional design and delivery; proven history and ability to manage departmental staff and budgets; significant experience providing technologically oriented pedagogical support and consultation to faculty; a consultative and collaborative leadership style; experience in an RCM or hybrid budget model; strong creative, innovative, strategic and visionary qualities; and excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. A Master's degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, or related field is required. Teaching experience at a higher education institution is required. A Terminal degree and/or record of scholarly activity in Instructional and curricular design or closely related field are preferred.
