Baylor University announces the position of Lecturer in Ensembles/Assistant Director of Bands, an appointment that begins in June of 2014, if possible, and no later than August of 2014. This person will serve as Associate Director of Athletic Bands (directing the Courtside Players at home basketball/volleyball games, Big 12 tournaments, and NCAA tournaments, and serving as assistant to the director of the Golden Wave Marching Band); conduct the Concert Band; teach Beginning Conducting and other coursework, such as Marching Band Techniques, according to qualifications and departmental needs; and perform other administrative duties, as assigned by the Director of Bands. Qualifications include a masters degree, but a doctorate or work toward the doctorate is preferred. Other requirements include successful experience with athletic bands, technical and artistic competence as a conductor, demonstrable administrative and organizational experience, and ability to assist in the recruitment and retention processes. Drill writing and/or arranging skills and teaching experience in public schools are desired. Appointment is at the rank of Lecturer, and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
